The Bridge Talk #18 - Aydogan Ozcan

Dr. Aydogan Ozcan is the Chancellor’s Professor at UCLA and an HHMI Professor with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, leading the Bio- and Nano-Photonics Laboratory at UCLA Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering Departments. He is also the Associate Director of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA. 

Dr. Ozcan is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and holds multiple patents for his inventions in telemedicine, mobile health as well as deep learning in optics. He is the founder of Holomic/Cellmic LLC, which was named a Technology Pioneer by The World Economic Forum in 2015.

In his talk onTEDx Big Apple, Dr Ozcan explains how his innovative research in imaging techniques has enabled the use of our cellphones as microscopes, a powerful and disruptive idea for bringing cost effective microscopy and micro-analysis to remote and developing countries.
