Dear colleauges It is a pleasure to warmly welcome you to the 44th annual SSPD meeting in Umeå, Sweden. Umeå University celebrated its 50th anniversery in September 2015 and this year, 2016, one week after the SSPD-meeting in August the Dental School will celebrate its 60th anniversery. Actually the Dental School gave birth to what would be Umeå University. The topic of the 44th annual meeting is ”Digital Design” and we think and hope that we have managed a program that will be both exciting and interesting. As the Institute of Design in Umeå is one of the world top-ranked designing educations we found it quite natural to residens the meeting in the Art Campus and what is called ”Sliperiet”, beautifully situated at the Umeälven riverside. Beside the scientific program you are most welcome to a guided tour of the exhibition about the famous Charles and Ray Eames who are among the most influential designers of the 20th century. After that a get-together reception will be held at the Art Campus. Accomodations are reserved in 2 hotels, situated in the city center just 10 minutes walk along the river from the Art Campus. The banquet on Friday evening will take place on the 5th floor of U&Me in our new culturebuilding Väven (the Weave), opened during 2014 when Umeå was European Capital of Culture.
